I don’t know very many people who haven’t experience rejection on one level or another in their lifetime.  It seems to be common place with most people I meet.  In fact, some people have been rejected so many times until they’ve taken on the adjective form of the word “rejectable”.  They are convinced that their mission in life is to be rejected.  What a travesty life and the enemy have dealt them! Let’s take a moment now and deal with this issue and see “What hath God said.”

I’m going to give you several synonyms and definitions but before I do allow me to give you mines.

Rejection:  A demise of the enemy designed strategically to deceive and keep you from reaching your God ordained status. It will systematically chip away at God’s image in you and disfigure you into the image of a fallen rejected angel.  Did you catch all that!

So, what is Rejection per the dictionary?

Rejection: The act of rejecting something.  Comes from the root word Reject which means to refuse to accept, agree to, admit, believe, etc.

I look at it this way.  It’s when someone or a group of people (out of ignorance) refuse to accept you for who you are – that’s why some folks are always trying to change you; refuse to agree with who God says you are – they don’t understand that you were created in the image of God.  They don’t understand that you are a royalty; refuse to admit there really isn’t a better choice than you because you’ve got the necessary credentials; and refuse to believe God created and designed you for the job – that’s why they’re still looking for someone else not realizing that God put the real answer in you!

This word comes from the Latin word rejectum meaning to throw back.  Now, let’s take a bit of time and deal with this lesson.

Many of you on a daily basis struggle with this issue because of what happened in your childhood, in college, on your job, in your family or what happened in many of your failed relationships.  The enemy has used the events of your life to keep you from walking in the liberty Christ retained for you by dying on that cross.

Here are some words.  Read each one and tell me if they bring about a memory coupled with pain, resentment, inadequacies or low-self esteem.

           declined

renounced

       denied

cut (slang)

discarded

cast out

     excluded

dumped

brushed-off

dismissed

             refused

snubbed

turndown

             abandon

forsaken

           deserted

             shunned

      dodged

Do they impact your life negatively?  If so, God has sent a word for you today.  Come Out! Walk in your liberty starting today.  As a bird released from its cage, it’s time to spread your wings and fly.

Someone may say, well I hear you Minister Rickey but don’t you think its going to take more than that?  I’ve been hurting years because of what was said and done to me.  I once heard a mother say with tears in her eyes, “we were together for 16 years until one day he left and never came back.”  I’m not going to sit here and tell you that it’s going to be easy.  What I can tell you is that God is well able to heal your hurt.  In fact, He specializes in situations just like yours.  You’re truly going to have to learn how to depend on God’s word for your comfort and assurance.  Even when man rejects you – and he will, you’ve got to know that you’re accepted of God.

Ephesians 1:3-6

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."

I personally believe that part of the enemy’s plan is to get you to a point that you don’t trust anyone and that includes God.  If he can get you to feel like you don’t count and that your value is worthless; if he can convince you that you are insignificant and God has no plan for your life because EVERYONE you’ve ever gotten close to rejected you – then he knows you are no longer a threat to his kingdom.  In other words, he will have taken you out of the fight.  You’ll reside in you very own castle fortified by pillows of hurt and pain.  Listen, I don’t care who doesn’t like you and who walks off and leave you as long as God accepts you that’s all that really counts.  I’m telling you that when you are convinced that God approves you, let them shut the door and try to box you in and shut you out.  You’ll have enough stuff in you to bust a hole in the wall!  I wish you would shout right now and say, “I’m Coming Out!”

Last point:

Stop feeling like you’re the only one.  Look around you.  You don’t have to look hard nor far.  Chances are you just looked at a person who faced rejection over the past 3 days.  But I want to talk about someone whom the bible says was despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. (Isaiah 53:3)  I want to talk about a gentleman in whom no sin was found but he was without honor in his own town. (Mark 6:4)  I want to talk about a man who was able to go through his rejection and his humiliation because of his connections.  Jesus is his name.  If you can focus on him, then you can get your deliverance from people.

Here are a few reasons why he could deal with his rejection and humiliation and yet not give up.

James 1:22

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
