God's Word On Judging

A LESSON ON JUDGING OTHERS

FOR SO LONG I’VE BEEN HEARING CHRISTIANS SAY, “WE ARE NOT TO JUDGE OTHERS.”  NOW, DON’T GET ME WRONG THIS IS PARTIALLY TRUE BUT TODAY WE ARE GOING TO RIGHTLY DIVIDE THIS STATEMENT AND SEE WHAT HAS GOD REALLY SAID CONCERNING THIS ISSUE.  KEEP IN MIND THAT THE DEVIL IS A LIAR AND A DECEIVER AND HIS JOB IS TO PERVERT AND TWIST THE TRUTH AND CAUSE YOU TO KEEP BACK A WORD THAT IF SPOKEN WOULD TERMINATE A PERSON’S APPOINTMENT WITH HELL!

LET US START WITH I SAM. 16:6-7

6 And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD's anointed is before him. 7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

FIRST OF ALL, WE KNOW THAT THE EVENTS OF THIS STORY DEALS WITH GOD'S APPOINTMENT OF A NEW KING OVER THE NATION OF ISRAEL.  HOWEVER, HERE'S MY POINT OF EMPHASIS: SAMUEL'S SELECTION OF THE NEXT KING WAS ABOUT TO BE DRASTICALLY WRONG BECAUSE HIS SELECTION WAS BASED UPON THE EXTERIOR.  REMEMBER THAT YOU CANNOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS’ COVER.  NOW SINCE YOU CAN’T, WHY WOULD YOU TRY TO JUDGE A PERSON WHO IS INDEED A WHOLE LOT MORE COMPLICATED THAN A BOOK JUST BY THE WAY HE OR SHE LOOK!

NEXT,  LET’S LOOK AT MATTHEW  7:2-5

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

MAKE SURE THAT PARTICULAR AREA IN YOUR LIFE IS TOGETHER.  WHAT'S GOING TO QUALIFY YOU IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE SUGGESTING THAT I GET RIGHT IN MY LIFE -- IS ALREADY RIGHT IN YOURS.  OTHERWISE, YOU ARE ASSUMING THE LIFESTYLE OF A HYPOCRITE I.E. A "FOOL".

NEXT,  I CORINTHIANS 5:9-13

9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

KEEP IN MIND THAT A TREE IS KNOWN BY THE FRUIT IT BEARS.

CHECK IT OUT – IF IT DOES NOT LINE UP WITH GOD’S WORD, YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT TO DO.  ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU ARE NOT IN JUDGMENT OF THE PERSONS’ MOTIVES BUT THEIR ACTION.  PAUL SAYS FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT SAVE, I'VE ALREADY TOLD YOU HOW TO HANDLE THEM BUT NOW I SPEAK TO YOU REGARDING THOSE WHO ARE SAVED.  IF THEY ARE LIVING A  LIFESTYLE OF SINNING, DON'T EVEN GO OUT TO BREAKFAST, LUNCH OR DINER WITH THEM.  REMEMBER THE OLD ADAGE - ASSOCIATION LEADS TO ASSIMILATION?  YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO JUDGE THAT SITUATION.  YOU CAN'T JUST SIT BACK AND DO NOTHING!  REMEMBER - THAT YOU ARE NOT IN JUDGMENT OF THEIR HEART/MOTIVE/INTENT - ONLY GOD KNOWS THAT.  IT IS THEIR ACTIONS THAT ARE BROUGHT INTO JUDGMENT.  IF THEY ARE MATURE ENOUGH, THEY'LL RECEIVE IT AND THEIR LIVES WILL WE BETTER AS AS A RESULT THEREOF.

HERE’S ANOTHER REASON WHY YOU CAN’T JUST SIT BACK AND NOT SAY ANYTHING.  HOW WOULD YOU LIKE FOR THE BLOOD OF SOMEONE ELSE TO BE ON YOUR HAND?

EZEKIEL 3:18-21

18.  When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

19.  Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

20.  Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

21.  Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

NEXT,  I CORINTHIANS 6:1-11

YOU SHOULD BY NOW KNOW ENOUGH WORD TO DETERMINE BETWEEN WHAT’S RIGHT AND WHAT’S WRONG!  LISTEN, THE WORLD DOES NOT HAVE YOUR ANSWER; IT DOES HOWEVER HAVE YOUR PROBLEM.  YOU DO A DISGRACE TO GOD WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR SISTER OR BROTHER TO COURT!!!!!!!!

NOW HERE’S GOD PERFECT PLAN – LET US WALK IN IT!

I CORINTHIANS 11:31-32

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

GOD'S DESIRE IS THAT WE NOT BE LOST WITH THE WORLD

JUDGE YOURSELVES AND YOU WON’T NEED SOMEONE ELSE TO!

BUT IF HE HAS TO USE SOMEONE, IT WILL BE FOR HIS GLORY AND YOUR BENEFIT.
